Skate Maintenance
- Be sure to keep your blades properly sharpened. Sharpen blades approximately every 20-30 hours of skating time. If you have a question about whether your skates need sharpening, just ask me and I'll be happy to check them for you.
- After you skate, be sure to dry the blades with a towel and cover them in soft "soakers".
- When you get home, take the skates out of your bag and store them in the open air so that the soles may dry out properly.
- To prolong the life of the leather boots, it is also best not to leave them in a hot car in the summer time, nor leave them in the cold car overnight in the winter.
Bill Heck is our skate sharpener at Arctic Edge. He is here every Monday and Wednesday. Prepay for your sharpening with the front desk (punch cards are available), then leave your skates in the pro-shop for Bill to sharpen. You can pick them up the next time you return to skate.
